So I got Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard today… and I just spent the last half hour experimenting with classes and whatnot.
So now I finally have my main party:
Guild: Tsubaki
Protector (Eva), Ronin (Raiden) <— Front Line
Gunner (Zero), Medic (Chime) , Alchemist (Aram) <— Back Line
At first, I was tempted to put Gunner in the front line (’cause he has a gun, lol) but then I started looking at his skills and realized that a good deal of his skills basically increases the damage he takes by a lot.
I managed to have some time to screw around with the new classes, so here’s some of my thoughts on them.
War Magus – It’s alright so far I guess. The thing I noticed about War Magus is that some of his sword skills require you to have some sort of status ailment on the monster already. Meaning, you need a Hexer or Dark Hunter to use War Magus’s offensive skills effectively. I’m debating with myself if I should create a party dedicated to making those ailments possible (since every class has at least one skill that can) so that War Magus can do his thing with the sword skills and then just have him focus on healing after… this seems like a class that would be great once you hit past the Level 40 mark.
Gunner – I thought Gunners would make a great frontline class, but I guess I was wrong. Since the gunner’s skills pretty much make it so that he can take massive damage as a result, it’s almost worthless to put him in the front. Otherwise, he’s a pretty ordinary class. I’ve only managed to use a few of his gun skills so far (one for each of the three elements), and they’re nothing special. I did some research and found out that he had an OOC ability that can stop movements of FOEs for a set number of turns (oooh. can’t wait to use that.)
Beast – Can’t really say much about them since I haven’t unlocked the class yet. >.>
Well, that’s enough of me talking. It’s time for me to get back to playing.
